Frequently Asked Questions
Here you will find answers to many of the commonly asked questions. For more information, please refer to our student application or inquire to a staff member.
Do I have to be a Silver Spring resident to enroll at All-Pro Driving School?
No, residents from neighboring counties and states are welcome to enroll in any of our Maryland MVA-approved driving programs. While All-Pro Driving School is located in Silver Spring, MD and primarily serves students throughout Montgomery County, we accept eligible students from surrounding areas.
Is the 36-Hour Driver’s Ed course mandatory in Maryland?
Yes. The 36-Hour Driver’s Education program is mandatory for all new drivers in Maryland before taking the MVA road test and obtaining a provisional driver’s license.
I don’t have my Permit; can I still take the classes?
A Maryland Learner’s Permit is not required for the classroom portion of the program. However, a valid Learner’s Permit is legally required for all behind-the-wheel driving sessions and must be presented at the time of the scheduled appointment. Failure to present a valid Learner’s Permit may result in the student being unable to participate in the driving session and could result in a same-day cancellation fee.
Do I receive a certificate after completing driver’s education?
Upon successful completion of all course requirements, students are electronically certified with the Maryland MVA. Paper certificates are no longer issued.
Do I have to be on camera for the virtual class?
To participate in the virtual format of our Maryland MVA-approved 36-Hour Driver’s Education course, students must comply with all Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) requirements:
-
Camera must remain on with the student’s full face clearly visible at all times
-
Active participation is required throughout the class session
-
Microphone must function properly
-
Stable internet connection is required
-
Driving or being in a moving vehicle during class is strictly prohibited
Failure to comply with any Maryland MVA virtual classroom requirement may result in removal from the session. Missed classes must be rescheduled according to program policy.
What if I miss a class or get dismissed from a class?
Students who miss a class or are removed from a session must make up that unit at a later date when it is next offered (typically within two weeks). All required units must be completed before a student is eligible to take Unit 10 and the final exam.
Can I take more than 1 class per day to finish faster?
No. The MVA prohibits any student from taking more than one 3-hour in-class session or more than one 2-hour behind-the-wheel session per day. Students can however take one 3-hour in-class and one 2-hour behind-the wheel per day.
How long do I have to complete the 36-Hour Driver’s Ed course?
Students must complete the 36-Hour Driver’s Education program within 18 weeks from the first day of class, as required by the Maryland MVA.
What forms of payments do you accept?
We accept cash, checks, Zelle, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and debit or credit cards (a transaction fee applies to card payments). All payments must be received and cleared prior to the scheduled service. Please ensure payment is completed when booking appointments to avoid delays.
Are there payment plans available?

It’s raining, are classes cancelled?
Similar to the Maryland MVA Skills Test, classes and driving sessions are generally held during inclement weather unless conditions are deemed severe. For additional information regarding weather policies and cancellations, please refer to our terms and conditions or contact a staff member.
